In may ways this is true. 1924 saw the adoption of supercharging and the appearance of the legendary Type 35 Bugatti. It was the beginning of one of the most fascinating eras in the history of the sport. In 1934 Germany was re-admitted to the international fold and with generous state aid (Hitler was quick to realize the propaganda aspect of winning major Grand Prix) Mercedez-Benz and Auto Union proceeded to dominate the sport with technically brilliant cars, driven to their limits - and at times beyond - by drivers of exceptional skill and courage.
